I've held numerous internships. In 2004, I served as Marketing Intern for Managing Horizons, a boutique consulting firm that provides provides organization development, training and coaching services. I redesigned the company website and designed promotional materials, including a promotional brochure for the company's coaching services.
For my role as Communications Intern at Prevention First, Inc. (a nonprofit substance abuse prevention organization), I served as an editor, proofreader and a research assistant. I edited the conference brochures, the magazine, a coalition newsletter and interoffice communication materials. I was responsible for putting together and editing the content of the Red Ribbon Week Brochure for the Illinois Drug Education Alliance. I also researched and maintained the content of the various websites associated with Prevention First.
As an Undergraduate Assistant for a professor in the Drake School of Journalism and Mass Communication, I helped with the Visual Communication course, which included classwork and labs. I demonstrated computer programs, and instructed and assisted students during labs. I also graded assignments and tests.
Skills applied during Internships: editorial, proofreading, content development, online content management, design/layout, Microsoft Office including FrontPage and Excel, Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat Reader.
